Life is a journey — and at our craft distillery in Reston, we believe the moments worth remembering usually start with something worth drinking.
Open Road Distilling Co. was built around that idea, right in the heart of Reston Town Center. We make American Vodka, American Gin, Independence Bourbon and Eagle Eye Rye for the celebrations, the detours, the nights that turn into something unexpected and the quiet ones where you just need to sit down and exhale.
Our road started in restaurants — busy dining rooms, late nights and a lot of conversations that went longer than planned. As part of Metropolitan Hospitality Group, the team behind Open Road restaurants across the DC Metro area, we built the distillery to carry that spirit forward: into your glass, around your table, wherever the road takes you next.

Two crafts, one standard. We distill our clear spirits from start to finish at our Reston distillery, and we hand-blend our whiskeys from carefully selected aged barrels.
Vodka & Gin
Our American Vodka starts with a corn-based neutral spirit that we run slowly through traditional pot stills, keeping only the clean “hearts” of each run.
For American Gin, botanicals from around the world rest overnight in the still before a gentle distillation carries their aromatics over one by one.

Bourbon & Rye
Blending is a craft of its own, so we taste through barrels from distilleries across the country — Independence Bourbon brings together four distinct bourbons from as far north as Ohio and as far south as Texas — then give our blends added time in barrel.
Finally, we bring each blend down to bottling proof slowly, over at least three weeks, for a smoother pour. Likewise, Eagle Eye Rye follows the same patient approach.

Where is Open Road Distilling Co. located?
We’re at 1871 Fountain Drive, Suite 100, in Reston Town Center (Reston, VA 20190). The distillery, tasting room and distillery store are inside the Open Road Reston restaurant.
Do you distill all of your spirits in Reston?
Our American Vodka and American Gin are distilled on-site in Reston. In contrast, In contrast, Independence Bourbon and Eagle Eye Rye are hand-blended by our team from aged whiskeys we select from distilleries across the United States, then rested further and slowly proofed before bottling.
Can I book a spirit tasting at the distillery?
Yes. Spirit tastings are held in our tasting room and can be booked online through OpenTable. The tasting room is open Monday through Friday 11 AM – 9 PM, Saturday 10 AM – 9 PM and Sunday 10 AM – 6 PM.
Where can I buy Open Road spirits?
Every Open Road bottle is available at our distillery store in Reston. Independence Bourbon, Eagle Eye Rye and our Maple Old Fashioned are also sold at Virginia ABC stores — use our Find a Bottle page to locate one near you. American Vodka and American Gin, however, are sold only at the distillery.
What is Heirloom?
Heirloom is the speakeasy tucked away inside Open Road Distilling Co., serving craft cocktails and dinner nightly from 4 PM, with happy hour from 4 to 6 PM Monday through Friday. Reserve a table at Heirloom.
Is Open Road Distilling Co. connected to Open Road restaurants?
Yes. Open Road Distilling Co. and Open Road restaurants are both part of Metropolitan Hospitality Group, and our spirits are the house pour at Open Road locations across the DC Metro area.
