Open Road Distilling Co. is a Virginia-born spirits company built around that idea. We make American Vodka, American Gin, Eagle Eye Rye, and Independence Bourbon right here in Reston Town Center — spirits for the celebrations, the detours, the nights that turn into something unexpected, and the quiet ones where you just need to sit down and exhale.
But our story didn’t start with a still. It started on the floor of a restaurant.
Open Road Distilling Co. was built by restaurant people. People who have spent years behind the bar, in the kitchen, and on the floor figuring out what guests actually want to drink. We run restaurants across Northern Virginia and D.C. through Metropolitan Hospitality Group, and we’ve watched what gets ordered twice, what bartenders reach for on a busy Friday, and what earns a permanent spot on a menu long after the novelty wears off.
Open Road came out of that experience. Every spirit we produce is small-batch and crafted to a standard we’d put on our own menus — because we do. These are spirits versatile enough to build an entire cocktail program around and clean enough to pour straight.
Because Open Road Distilling Co. is part of Metropolitan Hospitality Group, our spirits are the foundation of cocktail programs at MHG restaurants across the region. That’s not a distribution deal — it’s the same team. Our distillers work alongside the bartenders who pour our products every night, and the result is a consistency and quality you can taste at every location.
That partnership has shown up where it counts. Heirloom — our speakeasy inside the distillery — has been named Best Cocktail Bar in Northern Virginia Magazine’s Best of NoVA awards two years running, with a cocktail program built entirely around Open Road spirits. Open Road Grill, now a five-time Best of NoVA winner for Best Sports Bar, pours our full lineup across its locations in Reston, Merrifield, and Rosslyn. You’ll also find Open Road spirits anchoring menus at CIRCA in Clarendon, Foggy Bottom, Navy Yard, and The Boro, at Él Bebe in Navy Yard and The Boro, at TRIO Grill in Merrifield, and at Salt — the speakeasy tucked below Open Road Grill in Rosslyn.
What started inside our own restaurants has grown into something bigger. Today, you can find Open Road spirits at restaurants, bars, breweries, and venues across the region — partners who share our commitment to quality and know what a well-made spirit does for a cocktail program.
You’ll find us at all Blue Ridge Grill locations, Belmont Country Club, Parallel Whiskey Bar, Parallel Party Bar, Rubino’s Sports Bar, all Honor Brewing locations, all Atlas Brewing locations, Commonwealth Brewing, Pazzo Pomodoro, Sidebar in Leesburg, Tarbenders, all Solace Brewing locations, and Route 7 Brewing — among others. We deliver directly to our restaurant and bar partners through our own licensed ABC store on premise — no distributor, no middleman. We work with every partner’s team and make the process as simple as possible. No runaround, no waiting on someone else’s timeline. When you need product, you hear from us.
Open Road isn’t just behind the bar — we’re on the shelf. Our Bourbon Old Fashioned, Rye Old Fashioned, and Maple Old Fashioned ready-to-drink cocktails are available at Virginia ABC stores across the state, with the strongest presence across Northern Virginia.
